Explain this....

Maybe Sara can post a comment and explain this. Can you believe this is the picture on the back of our milk carton? There are little fairytale type stories on the back of milk cartons here in Iceland. Maybe we could play a little game and try to guess what this is all about.

Happy New Year

We are back in the 'Land of Fire and Ice"! We left Las Vegas on the 30th about 11:30am and arrived in Iceland on the 31st about 6:30am. Iceland is 8 hours ahead of Las Vegas...you do the math. We got back to our Apartment and went straight to bed, waking up about 6pm.

We headed to Reykjavik about 7:30pm to hang out with our friends Agusta, Bjarni(Sara's parents) and their kids. They treated us to a great dinner and a traditional Icelandic New Year's Eve. After dinner we went a couple blocks away to a HUGE bonfire. They pile wooden construction waste up about 20 feet high and light it up. Very cool.

Next we headed back to the house for the Iceland variety show. It was pretty funny without even understanding the language. Basically they do a spoof on all the ridiculous things that took place during the year. Kind of a Saturday Night Live thing. People had been letting off fireworks all evening but at 10:30 when this show came on, the city fell silent. As soon as the show was over (11:30) the fireworks began again.

The fireworks are amazing. Everyone in the city buys professional fireworks. The sound is deafening and this show is like no other. I hope the pictures give you some idea. It was unbelievable!

I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve!
